BACK DOOR - Heidelberg-Nurnberg-Mannhiem- Rothenberg

M on my way 5/16-24/09 to Heidelberg & looking for some help getting from there to Rothenberg, Mannhiem, Nurnberg (not in that order) & back to Heidelberg.
The wife has work mon-thrus & I am looking for a few days out of Heidelberg. Are these good choices for a two/three "ME" days in Germany?
What about the spas in Baden-Baden???
THANKS for any insight!!!

I don't know what you plan on seeing in Mannheim, but it is a short train (S-Bahn) ride from Heidelburg.

Nürnberg and Rothenburg are pretty close to each other. Take the S-Bahn to Osterburken, train from there to Würzburg, then to Rothenburg or Nürnberg. In fact, Würzburg itself (Marienberg) would be worth a stop.

Heidelberg (castle) is also worth seeing.

Other than the name, I'm not sure Baden-Baden is such a worthwhile place.

I loved the baths in Baden-Baden. Best $30 I've ever spent. It's a nice way to end a vacation. But, remember, this is Europe, they don't wear swimsuits there, everyone's just buck naked.

If you want a nice, traditional German BAD, I like the Palais Thermal in Bad Wildbad. Beautiful decor. However, it is totally gender mixed, i.e., there is no men-only or women-only side to hide out in.
