BA Refund--eventually

On Mar 25, I was able to get through to British Airways to get a refund on a flight they canceled that was scheduled in April. The next day March 26 ( or 26 March for our European friends), the refund showed up on my credit card statement. That was for the airfare. I was told the seat fee would be handled separately.

I would check periodically but the seat fee refund never showed up so I I just wrote it off as I didn't want to wait on hold to speak to someone.

I just checked my statement and on June 3, the seat fee was refunded to my credit card. It only took a little over two months.

The moral of the story is......be patient. It may take awhile to see a refund.

That worked for us, Frank II. Well, two phone calls and a lot of patience.

I suppose we all need to be patient these days. I cancelled flights for our fall trip on 4/30. I booked the flights using United miles and the miles were promptly put back in the account. They have not refunded the taxes we paid as of yesterday. I'll wait until the end of the month and if the money's not back on my credit card I'll call them again.

We FINALLY received our British Airways Business Class refund today! Our trip was scheduled for April 13 to Italy. We called the week before April 13, and after several attempts, got through and requested the full refund option. Staff easily agreed to the refund, and were quite courteous. Today, the refund was finally posted to our visa account- 60 + days later.
Hope this helps you all.

Thank you Frank, Jane, Andrea and Pat - for sharing information about British Air Refunds - as I begin my own quest to communicate with British Air about changing travel plans this fall.

We cancelled our British Airways business class round trip tickets in mid March for our scheduled 4/1/20 flight, because I had fallen and broke my leg. They would only refund taxes. No where on my ticket does it say non-refundable. My loss was over $5000. Luckily , I had taken out travel insurance. It took awhile of back and forth communications, but the Travel Gard did cover me. I will not book with British Air ever again.

I have no way to know if BA has changed their site since you made your purchase, but they make it fairly easy to see the fare conditions now

Your ticket conditions
Changes to your ticket
Changes permitted at any time for the difference in fare. Changes subject to availability.
Refunds
There are no refunds except for any government & airport taxes.

Glad your insurance came through and hope you had a full recovery from your injury and will be able to travel in the future when we are not locked away.
