With recent news about BA cabin crews (Unite) going on strike, what happens with our bookings? Once they, Unite, announce a strike, they have to wait 7 days before walking off the job. We are travelling this Friday, Feb. 26 to London, so we're ok, but coming home March 19, on BA. Can anyone with this unfortunate experience tell me what happens? Thanks!
I was traveling to the UK on Air Canada when they went on strike. It was a problem. For me, they struck before I left. Supposedly my travel agent had arranged for me to fly an alternate American flight. But when I went to American they had no record of the transaction. I ended up over at the Air Canada ticket trying to get an answer. I ended up on the American flight due to sympathetic American staff. The O'Hare Air Canada staff were appalling rude and unhelpful. This was the beginning of my current relationship with American Airlines. ; ) They stayed on strike during my whole trip. I had been given a UK number to call and I did call to find out what was happening. I ended up going home a day later than planned. I also spent a lot of time on the phone as there were long waits and little information.
Now, that said, this was over 10 years ago when the Internet was not a factor, so I would hope that your experience would be better. I would recommend have a good phone number to call and have the ability to go online to find out what is happening. Have printed documents for your travel.
Good luck, and if you have to stay an extra day, find a good place to visit! I went Ayr and saw Rabbie Burn's cottage. ; )
