We will be taking the TGV from Avignon to Paris on a Friday morning in October. We will be driving from Murs in the Luberon and will need to drop off our rental car at the TGV station. Viamichelin gives a driving time of about an hour. Trying to decide whether to take the 10:14am train or the 12:14. If we take the earlier train will we run into rush hour traffic around Avignon? If so, how much extra time should we allow?

Ten fifteen is a little late for rush hour even in France, but you could run into a bottleneck any time of day or any day of the week if there is an accident or road work on the autoroute. The TGV station is well outside of Avignon, but you should leave more time than ststed on viamichelin due to unforeseen bottlenecks.

As noted by Bets, the TGV station is about a mile out of the old section of town & the rental car drop off is a little tricky. The rental car drop is about 200 yards from the station. I suggest at least 2 hours from Murs.
