Wife and I will travel via Space-A to Ramstein, then to Aviano, Italy. After a stay in the area, want to get to Rota Naval Air Station in Spain. How can I get from Italy to Spain? Venice to Seville? Milan to Madrid? Naples to Cadiz? Train? Fly? Ferry? I've been looking on the net and have not found a way to get from northern Italy (Aviano AFB area) to Southern Spain (Rota NAS area). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I would take the train from Aviano to Venice and then fly to Seville and take the bus from there to Rota. Vueling has the Venice/Seville flights for €84-140 depending on schedule and stops.
You should call the USO on either/both bases, they should be able to help since they do a lot of tours. You can take the train, but it would be faster to fly. Check cheap intra-Europe airlines.
You might want to snoop around on pepperd.com for Cat 6 Space A availability trends. It's getting pretty thin and unreliable in both directions for Germany as well as Spain.
Jeff, the train to Venice and fly to Seville, the bus to rota, sounds like the best option if we are not able to space-a back to ramstein, then to souda bay then to rota. I was thinking about sig, but the flights from sig to rota are not that frequent. Looks like souda bay to rota might be a good option.
Thanks for the suggestions.
