I am trying to purchase 2 sets of AVE train tickets in Spain. First is Barcelona to Sevilla, then Sevilla to Madrid. We will be traveling in late January, so the 60 day deadline to purchase the less expensive "promo" price is fast approaching. Any tips/suggestions for the purchase? Have looked at Renfe and see one price, but have read I will have trouble using a US credit card, and then to Rail Europe, where the cost is more than double!
Lots of ways to manage this. For myself, I have used
https://loco2.com/
for trains all over Europe. They have been just fine with a US card.
Do not use RailEurope. As you have found, it is often much more expensive than what you can find elsewhere.
Meg,
Your best bet is to pay with PayPal when booking your tickets with Renfe.
Here are a few helpful websites:

- Complete Guide to train travel in Spain

If all else fails, you can book your tickets on Trainline.com. I’ve not used this website personally, but have read that it’s more user friendly than Renfe.
If you plan to visit Granada, don’t forget to book your Alhambra tickets NOW.
Have a wonderful trip!
