I'm looking at renting a car for a trip in France this summer. I used the autoeurope website to price out a sample rental from 6/8 thru 6/19 starting in Vannes, dropoff in Caen. They offer a no-deductible rate of $347, and the Opel Corsa is listed as being from Hertz. I went to the Hertz site and quoted the same trip & car, it is $305 with unspecified insurance and clicking thru the 1st few "pay now" screens the pulldowns say "Super Cover (Excess Waiver) is offered in most locations but can only be purchased at time of pick-up" and is $20 per day. For 11 days this would add another $220.
So I am wondering if people out there have experience renting a Hertz car thru autoeurope and picking the no-deductible rate. Was the autoeurope rate really what you paid? Or did you show up at the Hertz counter only to be greeted with a wan smile and an explanation that if you want the no-deductible coverage you need to pony up another $20+ per day at the counter?
