I am attempting to use my Capital One FF Miles for a trip next Summer. I hit the tab that says Use Miles. I put in my dates. I hit search. There are no flights listed in miles, dollars only. If I go back to March, I get the option of miles or dollars, but as soon as I cross the April 1 barrier, it switches to dollars only. Before I spend an hour on hold with customer service, does anyone have a clue?
When I have used my Capital One FF Miles (not recently, I admit), I just used the "miles eraser". Since it costs 60,000 miles for a ticket of up to $600 US, then $0.01 per mile thereafter. So I buy a $750 plane ticket, then use the "miles eraser", costing 75,000 miles to eliminate the charge. That way I get the full $0.01 per mile. If the plane ticket was less than $600, it would still cost 60,000 miles to purchase it, so I would be getting less than $0.01 per mile. Does that make sense?
I recently had a great deal of trouble trying to use my Cap One miles. They system just would not show me the flights I wanted and I knew from the airline site that the flights were available. So I used my Cap One card to buy the tickets on UA then used the Cap One feature where you apply your accumulated miles to pay for the travel purchased with the card. You might look into that.
CapitalOne is the easiest to use to book travel with miles. You use the card to charge flights, wait a few days and call CapitalOne. They credit you the amount back to your account. Easy!
CapitalOne onsite travel may be too early for posted summer flights in 2020. I recently utilized Chase travel for 2019 travel, the ability to use miles was off to the side when finishing the transaction.
It may be difficult to reach Capital One by phone right now, as they deal with the effects of the security breach.
Just buy the flights you want with the CapitalOne card. Then let them know. Easiest card for free flights we have ever used!!
