ATM's at Frankfurt airport

We are changing plans, 3 hours layover in Frankfurt. Are there Duetche Bank ATM's inside security at Lufthansa. I want to get Euro's in Frankfurt while waiting for our connection.

I know there are ATM's at the airport. When you get off the plane, you will have to get your bags, clear customs, check your bags and get back in line for your connection. I think you have to clear security again but it may not be the same security as someone coming off the street.

I noticed on one of Frommers.com blogs (maybe one to two weeks ago) a website link that details what services are available at airports around the world. Frankfurt is listed in there.

While you may not have any in the USA-bound terminal (C?) - there are lots of shops and cafes so the ATM will be around there. Weather its a DB or not - I cant remeber but maybe their website shows it has one (check DB.de). Its good to use them as BofA has no per-use ATM fee with them (just the 3% fee youd pay anyways).

I KNOW that there are ATMs at FRA airport. The one I use is straight ahead when you exit into the arrivals area. It's to the right of the SIXT car rental booth. I think they are called Autogelt ( but I may be getting confused with the Netherlands - Andreas can you help ? ).

if not just ATM - they can also be called "Geldautomat". Should be pretty obvious with signs also showing an icon of money/coin too.

Just keep in mind that you may have to redo all the security if you go to the front entry lobby street area. Check the Frankfurt airport web site diagrams - they should also show amenities.

According to
http://www.cheapflights.com/airports/frankfurt-intl/

" Airport Facilities

Money and communications: Numerous banks, bureau de change and ATMs are available in Terminals 1 and 2. A number of major German banks offer a comprehensive range of domestic and international banking services at their branches in the Frankfurt Airport Centre (FAC) opposite Terminal 1. Postal services are available throughout the airport. 3C Communications provide 24-hour credit card phones and faxes, plus Internet access. Deutsche Telekom also provides Internet ports at some gates."

I've flown into FRA five times in this century. I always get cash at the first ATM I see. It has always been outside security where the concourse meets the Great Hall of Terminal 1. I have never seen one inside the arrival area. Same was true for Munich (1x) and Stuttgart (1x).

Similarly, I have flown out of FRA five times. There are a lot of shops and restaurants (opportunities to spend local currency) in the departure area, so one might expect to find ATMs there, but I have never needed one, so I never noticed if there are.

There might be some reasons not to have ATMs inside security. Most people using the airport are arriving and will go out thru the lobby, where they can find ATMs outside of security. People departing are mostly coming from Germany and will already have Euro. Most people just changing flights don't have time to use ATMs. If there are ATMs inside the security area, then the people servicing them have to go through some kind of security.

I would say just plan to get Euro at your final destination. Using an ATM doesn't take that long. If you feel you have to have Euro before you go on, or you might want to buy something (food?) at FRA, get a few Euro at your local bank. Or, be prepared if necessary to go outside security to find an ATM.

I found the ATMs easily when we landed by asking a flight supervisor where they are. You will find scores of them lined up and all you do is find one with your logo (e.g. Cirrus, Pulse, or Star) on it. The logos are usually on the back of your ATM card.
