Artesia NT for woman

I was about to book two tickets for my mom and I for second class couchettes going from Paris to Milan for 90 euros. I hadn't realized that you can only do woman only in 4 person couchettes - but the price is 174 euros (a huge jump)

Is this a reasonable price? I was ordering from tgv-europe.com. Is there anywhere else I can look for tickets or cheaper options? I considered a plane, but the flight schedule really messes with our itinerary. I was going to check raileurope.com to compare prices, but they are under construction.

I was actually just looking at easyjet.com

Would you recommend them? Are there any catches I should watch for? My mom and I are each planning on bring one carry one size (rick steves) bag.. will we need to pay extra for these?

And just a side note, this message board has been so great to me! Thanks for all the help!

In my opinion, there is absolutely no reason to pay extra to board early. You'll probably be seated together anyway because you will board together, but even if you aren't, it's not that long a flight.

So after calculating what it would cost to stay an extra night in Paris plus the extra fees for the flight, it came out to be a little bit more than the 4 person couchette for the sleeper train.

I thought the flight would still be worth it, but by the time we would arrive in Vernazza, we would miss almost a whole day there and we only had two days there to begin with. I decided to go for the sleeper train. I'm a little worried about it, but I'm looking forward to the experience.

Jesse,

Couchette compartments are all the same size. The only difference is how many bunks are pulled out. I think you'll appreciate the 4-bunk couchette more for the extra elbow room than for being able to choose one for women only.
