Arriving Charles De Gaulle Airport 11:30 am from United States

3 bags, 3 carry on's. We plan on taking a taxi. Is it better to schedule with a private shuttle or take the public taxi. How do I get from the Air France terminal to the Taxi stands? Do I need to take the train to the main part of the airport?

Jeannie, Which Terminal are you arriving at? You may find it very helpful to have a look at This Website. It provides good information on the terminal layout, including maps and photos. You could also consider using the Air France Bus from the airport. Happy travels!

Taxi is a good option with all that luggage, the taxi stands and signs to them are usually very easy to spot, afterall, taxi in french in english. I would be surprised to discover any terminal that didn't have a taxi stand. Just look for the signs, and only take a taxi from the taxi stands, not the freelancers that approach you. They offer a set price often much higher then the metered rate of the proper taxis. Should run between 45-55 euros into Paris (depends on traffic and exactly where you are goining, plus there is an extra one euro per suitcase charge not on the meter, so don't worry they are not ripping you off if they add that after meter, also I think there is a 3 euro charge for each person after first two) Also write down address ( complete address with postal code too) and give to driver, a mispronoucation can get you in a completely different place,, and I have stayed at a hotel, ( Hotel Saint Pierre) that has two other hotels that are completely unrelated, and in different areas,, but same name!

We had our hotel (Le Littre, 6 arron.) arrange a taxi for us. We were in Paris twice in 2009 and 2010. The taxi driver met us at the luggage areas and helped us with our luggage. It was nice, as our cost was a set rate. No surprises at our destination. The hotel told us what the rate would be on advance. We just had to pay the driver directly. No surprises. We were picked up at a train station once and at the airport the other time. Then our driver returned us to the airport two times. It worked out well.

You may want to ask your hotel to make the arrangements. Our hotel (Le Litre, 6 aroon) made the arrangements for us for two trips. We were met by the driver where we picked up our luggage at CDG or left the train. It was a set price to/from our hotel. It worked out nicely.
