i am going to purchase a navigo for visitors pass (arriving on monday)....can i do that at the airport? i am flying British Airways...where do i buy the pass and where do i pick up the RER?
does that cover my travel from CDG to central Paris? also, my apartment is in vincennes...what is the best route from the airport to vincennes?
Mary, Go here for train & ticket information: http://parisbytrain.com/ Go here for recommended routing: http://www.ratp.fr/en/ratp/c_5000/accueil/
Yes, you can buy a passe Navigo Decouverte at CDG and load a Navigo Semaine on it. However, if you want to use it to get from CDG to Vincennes, you'll need to load a zone 1-5 Navigo Semaine. Unless you plan to travel frequently between zones 1 and 5 during your stay in Paris, it probably will be cheaper to buy an individual ticket for CDG-Vincennes and a zone 1-2 Navigo Semaine to use during your time in Paris. The Paris by Train site tells where to buy tickets and how to get to either the CDG 1 or the CDG 2 TGV RER station. For a zoomable map of the metro and RER system, go here: http://tinyurl.com/6xmvms4. Take the RER B from CDG to Chatelet-Les Halles. If your apartment is close to the Vincennes RER station, take the RER A to Vincennes. If it is closer to one of the stops on metro line 1, walk through the connecting tunnels from Chatelet-Les Halles to the Chatelet metro station and take metro line 1 to either Porte de Vincennes, Saint Mande, or Chateau de Vincennes. If you give us the address of your apartment, we can tell you which station is closest to it.
