Arrival/Departure from Different Airports

We're going to Spain -- been there many times and have specific places/people we want to see.

Problem is that we want to fly into Madrid and out of Malaga and I haven't' found an easy, economical way to do that.

Am I stuck having to buy two one way tickets or is there another way?

Thanks,

Mark

You want to book on open jaw or multi city ticket.

If you can't book a cheaper ticket that way then consider booking round trip Madrid and a very cheap Malaga to Madrid $49/pp)

Play around with options at https://www.skyscanner.com/

Go to kayak.com and select flights, then multi city. I put in NY to Madrid, then back Malaga to NY for some random days in August and got choices as low as $800. I don't know where you're coming from or when, but regardless I think this shows that it won't be a ton more than a round trip from your home to Madrid.

I was having a lot of trouble with this but finally figured out how to do it on Expedia.

Select 'Flights' (not Flight+Hotel or Bundle) and underneath that row of options choose 'Multiple Destinations'.
Even though it gives you 5 spaces, you can just put in the two destinations you want.

We are flying from Austin to Barcelona for the first flight. Then Flight 2 I put in Munich to Austin.
If you search large enough airports, some options should come up for you. Try switching dates a bit for a better deal.

Kayak is the best tool for searching multi-city flights.

It is really pretty simple, just select multi-city options. We have done as many as four legged flights on one ticket over a three week period. Generally the cheapest way to go. Although I read somewhere recently that airline are beginning to adopt single leg fares much like Southwest so the saving will not be there like it was before.

You might also consider flying in and out of Madrid, then booking a flight from Malaga to Madrid on a regional airline. We were on the RS tour of Spain last year, beginning in Barcelona and ending in Seville. I booked our Delta flight into and out of Barcelona. We flew a regional flight from Seville to Barcelona, spending the night in an airport hotel in Barcelona due to the early departure out of Barcelona. The regional flight was very affordable.
