Arrival at airport

We're flying from Chania to Athens. How early do I need to be at CHQ? I paid for checked luggage.

Too funny. I never do a 2h wait if I'm flying domestically on this side of the pond. However, I was surprised to see some suggest a 2 hour arrival time for greece's domestic flights. I was asking for first-hand experience to see what the general population did. Why so long?

. We recommend that you arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight's departure time to ensure sufficient time for luggage drop-off. Please be aware that the check-in desk closes 40 minutes prior to departure in stations within Greece and 50 minutes prior to departure in stations outside of Greece. Keep in mind that the airport may experience high passenger traffic depending on the time of day.

You didn't specify the airline, but as Skyexpress has the majority of flights, chose to display their advice.

Use it as you see fit.

Sort of rude. But I will play one more time.

I was asking for first-hand experience to see what the general
population.

When my daughter and I made the trip in 2022, on Aegean, we showed up 90 minutes early ... more or less. The airport was a bit disorganized and crowded. I wish I had shown up earlier and had a cup of coffee.

I can’t imagine you would do other than whatever your airline suggests. Often that leaves you extra time, but no one can really tell you what kind of line might be at the airport when it’s time to drop off your luggage (assuming you can check in and get a boarding pass online ahead of time).
