Have you used any websites which email you the flight prices for specific dates/routes? Thanks!

Are there any internet companies you have used which watch your actual dates/routes and email the current price to you? And easy to use too?
I am looking for specific dates/routes, not next weeks fares... which some of these companies do ("Indy to London for $850!"... you go to their link and it's for tomorro night's flight from Indy to Dallas to Chicago to JFK to Amsterdam and then to London). Thanks!

If you are looking for a very specific itinerary and dates, then you should book soon. Don't wait, because the planes start filling up, the prices go up, and then the plane is full. I have known what flight I want to be on, but couldn't book right away, and have seen those prices go up.

I once had a price alert set with Kayak. I'd gone on the airline's site, and seen that my flight was $200 less, so I booked it. Two days later I got the Kayak alert, but the fare was already gone. Maybe Kayak's better now, and maybe other sites are as well. But I wouldn't rely on them.

Someday when we're free of those pesky work responsibilities then we can take those spur of the moment deals. Not yet.

When you set up a fare alert on Kayak, you input the flight and dates you are interested in and then they email you if the current fare for that flight goes up or down. I have done this in the past but I also noticed (as mentioned by the previous poster) that it wasn't all that reliable, sometimes the email came after I had already seen the fare change myself by checking it weekly. So it's kind of a crap shoot. Other websites may be better but I haven't used them. Usually now if the particular flight is important to me I will check it daily to see if it's changed.

If you go to www.tripadvisor.com/CheapFlightsHome and get a free account and then click on to see flights, you will be taken to a page where you can see the cheapest flights on the date and route you want and then set an Alert where you will get an email if the price lowers. They will check all the top booking sites for you) on that specific date and route so you can take advantage of that. You can set the date and routes you want them to watch. Choose the multi flight option when you first get to the page and you can list all of the specific dates and specific routes and that is all they will check for you and you'll get an alert email if flights on those specific dates and routes go lower. You might also find a great fare right away. Have them check all of the options.TripAdvisor is VERY reliable.
