I fly non-rev since my son works for a major airline. We are going to Europe this fall, and plan to use ZED fares. I was wondering if there is anyone who has had this experience so I can ask a few questions and get some advice.
Dick, I'll try not to take the "squatters" comment as an insult. My son works hard on the noisy, hot tarmac, moving overweight baggage and cargo, emptying lavatories, and restocking food and drink for travelers, We appreciate that his employer offers a perk to him and his parents for his hard work. We are not new to non-revving, but I like the people on Rick's website, so I thought I'd find someone here who has used ZED fares.
In addition to any replies you get here, look at Flyer Talk: http://www.flyertalk.com/
Thanks, Harold. I like that website, too.
That's something I didn't know, Dick- thanks for the heads up. I can imagine the origin of that term! I went to Flyertalk and attempted to register, but they said my email and URL address was cause for concern. Unsure why, since I'm a pretty benign, run-of-the-mill high school English teacher. I inquired, but no answer yet. In the meantime, I'll just read the blogs and see what I can discover. Thanks again.
I/we non-rev on Delta when we can. I sent you a PM. I may have more to learn from you than to teach you.
Usually being the last person on the standby list, I certainly am more of a squatter than a flyer. Most recently after waiting almost 12 hours at SLC, I was the last person on the last plane to SEA. Those who had been squatting with me all day cheered when I got on.
Geesh! Back in the old days the family used to be wined and dined in first, not squatting. Frequent flyer programs, hrumph.
