Are EUROSTAR tickets ever on sale?

Our friend in the UK said that she always bought her EUROSTAR tickets in the US (she lived here) before travelling to the UK because they were much cheaper. I haven't been able to find the site she mentioned, but wondered if this might be true?

Are there special rates for passengers under 25?

You might look at www.eurostar.com. They sell Eurostar tickets online for Eurostar trains departing from stations in the UK. They do have specials on their website.

What she might be referring to is the discounted Eurostar rate if you already hold a Railpass. (Although the reduced rate isn't guaranteed, as it's still a matter of availability.)

Or, maybe she means that you'll want to get your ticket far enough ahead to get one of the lower rates. It's quite a bit like an airline ticket, where the lowest fares get snapped up ahead of time. If you're able to avoid the "rush hour" days and times, you'll be able to get a much cheaper fare. I've been checking the Eurostar website repeatedly, and if you are somewhat flexible they have some very good fares.

Wish I could find that good fare. My date isn't flexible and the day I need in July is $202 all day. Is that a good fare Paris -London?

I just paid the same rate for travel in late June. $101 per person.

Is it 202 for one person or for two persons,?? If it is 101 for one person , for one day , thats not too bad. Remember the dollar has sunk pretty bad so that is only about 65 euros each, fair enough for city center to city center, flights sometimes had for less but must add on travel costs to and from airports which adds up.
There are cheaper tickets for youth as I got my son one , but , I don't know if for a same day return if its available.

Regardless rates go up and not down so don't wait for price drop , won't happen on Eurostar.

When I was searching fares the cheapest I could find was $98/one-way or about $150/round trip. The prices went up from there. If you are traveling during "business hours" the prices tend to go up (i.e. hours that business people may be travelling back and forth between the cities around 8am and then around 5pm)

There are special rates for passengers under 25. I'm going to London on the 29th of this month, and was able to get ticktes for $58 US, each way. (I booked this ticket in late Januray)

Vanessa, where did you book those tickets? I have two under 25 so they would qualify for a cheaper ticket, right? what if we only want a one-way ticket?

I booked them through Eurostar.com, there is a box to enter in that there are guests under 25 when booking.

Eli, I just booked our tickets from raileurope for 101.00 for me and less for my 21 year old daughter. Can't remember her price. I called Eurostar and they quoted me 231.00 Euros!

Eurostar.com is the best place to go for Eurostar tickets...one way can be as low as $101 for adults and $60 for 12-25. But, once again, these fares go quickly, so the farther ahead you can book, the better off you'll be. Remember these tickets are non refundable and non changeable at these prices.

Has anyone bought their EURO tickets through RS site?

I see that they sell the tickets too. Aren't their prices competitive?

If you order directly through Eurostar.com, is there a fee for handling?

I bought ours through rick steves' website. The total was $211 for 2 adults. this was several months ago, but I believe it was about $10 more than through the eurostar website, however with rick steves, they will mail the tickets to you here in the US. By ordering on the eurostar website I believe you pick them up in London through a machine. I liked the assurance of having my ticket in hand in case we couldn't figure out the machine, or our credit card wouldn't work to retrieve the tickets. So the extra $10 was worth it to me. You also get a travel skills dvd and maps and such with the ticket for free.

We bought our tickets through his web site because it was about the same price as Eurostar web site. So now we're set for that leg of the journey. We could have flown for just a few dollars more, but we're already flying across the pond, then from London to Rome, and then Rome to Paris. The train will be a change.

Are there discounts on rail travel in London if you travelled the same day by Eurostar? I know there is some benefit in Belgium.
