I was wondering if I could just bring over my car-charging kit for my iPod and tablet and plug them into the lighter outlet in our rental car. Thanks for any info you can give!!

Kathy, Lighter Outlets are the same in the U.K. as here. I've used my GPS Charger there on a number of occasions, and it's worked fine. At one time (more years back than I want to remember), British vehicles used a "positive ground" electrical system. That may have caused problems, but thankfully they decided to change that. Happy travels!

As far as I know all cars in the world use 12V systems so your charger should work anywhere.
