There will be 6 of us wanting to go from Krakow to Auschwitz and Auschwitz to Wroclaw in one day. When in Poland several years ago we hired a driver for the day for the same cost or less as taking the train, etc. with a lot less hassle. Is that still the case? Can you recommend anyone you have used recently that is reliable? Cost? Thanks!!
My wife and I took the train from Krakow to Auschwitz in November. At the train station we were approached by many drivers that wanted to take us to Auschwitz. The cost was 10 times what the train cost. The train was easy and not crowded. My wife wanted access to a toilet which was one reason we went by train. The other was to be able to go at our own pace. I don't know where you are staying in Krakow but the hotel staff might have a recommendation. I know at Globtroter they said they could arrange for a driver.
Thanks. The bus is also a great option, some prefer over train, ...run every hour and drop off and pick up at the Aushwitz gates. It is that leg from Aushwitz to Wroclaw that is a long one. Again, thanks.
You can negotiate with a taxi driver. We gave a guy in Gdansk 150 euros to transport four of us for an entire day (including a 45 minute drive to Malbork). We probably could have driven a harder bargain, if we wanted to.
Yes, I thought that would be the way to go from my experience as well. It was several years ago but we paid someone to drive us to Budapest from Krakow cheaper than taking the train. Was it recent that you were there? Sounds like hiring a driver is still an economical option. Thanks for your input.
