Or any of the other offers?
On Trenitalia, Flexi fares are the most expensive, but the most adaptable to change and refund. Standard is self explanatory. Amica fares give a 20 per cent discount and are available up to 24 hours before departure, if not sold out. But they also have the greatest restrictions on changes or refunds. These are the only three ticket classes we can book from overseas. Remember, apply for your Trenitalia password first....THEN go back to book any tickets. Numerous people have reported problems, usually when they try to register AS they're booking for the first time.
Hi Lacey,
On the trenitalia website, click on the "Tariffs Information" link that appears to the right of the drop-down box where you select the rate. It has an explanation of the various categories.
I need to correct some of the information in Norm's post. If seats are still available, Amica fares can be purchased until midnight of the day before departure. Smart Price fares are open to anyone, but you need to book well in advance to get them (up to 90 days for international routes).
Sorry Tim....yes you're correct...I thought he was discussing only Italian fares. The Smart fares are excellent deals for international travel out of Italy but, as you point out, book early, because they go like an ice cube in Hawaii.
Thank you! I am trying to book the Smart tickets online and I am coming up with an error. The price is showing as avaibable. Is there a trick to booking on the Trenitalia website? I did sign in under my user name; after purchasing how do you go about picking up your tickets? Sorry for all the questions but I appreciate the help!
