Anyone have a site with discount codes for renting a car ?

Since I have to travel with my mobility aid, I have to have a bigger vehicle. We got a SEAT Alhambra in Britain last time and loved it.

Now we are planning an Ireland trip in October and for the 3 weeks we need a car the cheapest I can find is $4000.

If anyone has a discount code or a site that lists them, I would be eternally grateful. Or the equivalent of a Uhaul rental place LOL that would work too I guess.

Thank you

Samantha

I discovered you can save quite a bit by going through the “local” website versions for car rentals. For Ireland try Autoeurope.ie (or Hertz.ie, enterprise.ie, etc). The price will be quoted in euros instead of dollars, but will probably be substantially less than the prices on the equivalent .com websites.
You may already know this, but some car rental companies charge a surcharge if you go to Northern Ireland. When we went in 2019,Alamo did not.

Great ideas. Thank you both so much. I need to find a way to keep the price down a bit. This is really appreciated.

Feel sorry that the price is so high.

Bigger automatic cars are very $$$ in Europe, because most locals drive smaller stick-shift cars.

Another big reason for the price hike is Covid. Many car rental companies sold off their inventory to raise cash and likely have not rebuilt their fleet yet.

Prices vary greatly on European rental cars. You can go to Expedia and other site online and see which car rental companies are priced lower than others.

Remember not all rental car companies are created equal--especially in Europe where some are franchises of American rental car companies.

I usually go with Hertz because of an old Gold Card or with AutoEurope.

If you have a Costco acct you might see what rates they offer. We have used them in the US and got a great rate for a rental even with a different pickup/dropoff sites. I looked into using them in Scotland and they did have good rates but ultimately decided to take the train.

Are you a member of CAA? I just rented a car through AAA (United States version) and it saved me a considerable amount of money. It may even be worth joining CAA if they could save you enough.
