Anyone done the Global Entry Interview in Dublin?

My daughter and I both need to complete our Global Entry Interviews. We will be flying back from Dublin in a few weeks, then a LONG layover at JFK. I see that Dublin airport is listed as an interview location, but also that everything there is very backed up with heinous long lines. Should I get to Dublin even earlier than I had planned (I'm hearing 3 hours??). Or would I still be able to do the interview at JFK even though I've already been through customs in Dublin?

Weird sitch. Thanks for the advice.

Why can’t you have your Global Entry interviews done during your long layovers at JFK?

I would be fine with that. But since we will have already gone through customs in Dublin, i wasn't sure if we would arrive in the right part of the airport to do the interview in JFK. But I guess there's plenty of time to figure that out when we get there.

Make sure you don't need an appointment at the JFK Enrollment Center. It is not the same as interview on arrival. Interview on arrival is done just as you are about to exit immigration. I did mine at Terminal 8.

It sounds like maybe you'd qualify for the "Interview Upon Arrival" scheme at Dublin? Maybe double-check that, but getting to the airport would be well worth it.

Doing it at JFK would certainly require an appointment, as you'll have gone through customs in Dublin. That sounds like it could be a hassle- trying to his the appointment time, taking the AirTrain to the right terminal (and back), etc. (The 'enrollment center' is in Terminal 4. Or was a few years ago.)

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. I'm definitely going to try and get it done in Dublin.

@cprothero were you able to complete your interview in Dublin? Traveling there next month and hoping to do mine on the way back to the US.

Hey Prufrock, we did have the opportunity but not the time. The lines in Dublin were INSANE (this was June 26). We arrived 3 hours early and still had to run to our flight at the end. There was regular airport security, TSA security (no pre-check), and then customs.

I actually saw signs pointing toward Global Entry interviews and I asked one the of the line monitors about it and she just said, I don't think they're doing those today. Then when we got to the customs agent I did ask him if we could do it. I had all the confirmation letters printed out and ready. He said he could do it, but we'd miss our flight. Then he had the nerve to say "You just got to get here earlier next time."

So, geeze, yeah, give it a try. Hopefully lines have calmed a little bit over the last month. Perhaps someone who has been there more recently has more feedback on that. Otherwise, I'd recommend getting there 4 hours early.
