Anyone Dispute Damage Charges with Hertz Car Renatal?

I rented a car in Venice, Italy with Hertz in June and purchased CDW through them. I dropped the car via the car drop in Civitavecchia on a Sunday when the office was closed in order to catch a cruise. In July I received a Hertz invoice for the rental which included a 250 euros fee for some slight damage on the car, which happened when we backed into a sign. I contacted Hertz and they said I would have to dispute the charges, and ask for the charges to be removed since I had CDW. Seems like this should be automatic, but I guess not. What are others' experiences in minor car damages but having purchased CDW through the car rental agency? Thanks!

If you had no deductible cdw, the story is over and you won. If you had deductible, the problem is yours up to the deductible limit unless you have proof it was a pre-existing condition.
