We are flying Air Berlin from Florida to France this summer. Can anyone tell me about their experience with this airline including check-in, service, meals, cleanliness, timeliness, etc... Thanks.
My wife and I flew AB from Berlin to Budapest last year. We changed planes in Nuremberg.
We were perfectly satisfied - nice staff, punctual, and they even served lunch for such a short flight.
You can find reviews on all the airlines in Europe at www.airlinequality.com.
I flew Air Berlin from Paric CDG to Nuremberg last summer. All around good experience and cheap, under 60 Euro and half of that were taxes and fees. I kept to their smaller than US carriers size and weight restrictions; noticed lots of Europeans with larger carry-ons, which you can take but they charge extra.
Flown often out of Rome - on time, efficient, clean and no issues! My wife's school (American Overseas School of Rome) often uses them for their team sport transportation as they are one of the least expensive...
Ciao,

We flew Air Berlin from Stansted to Berlin and back. Very efficient, friendly and had decent food. I would fly Air Berlin again. I had just noticed they were transatlantic now. Great.
I believe Air Berlin merged with Thomas Cook charter airline. Those transatlantic routes are a result of the merger-probably not daily flights.
I flew with Air Berlin last August. About 90 EUR from Nuremburg to Athens. Fantastic new plane, lots of legroom, good staff. One of the best short-haul experiences I've had.

Air Berlin wants to merge with Thomas Cook's Condor airline but there are currently some anti-trust issues to take care of since Air Berlin last year took over LTU airlines completely. The long-distance flights to the US and Asia used to be operated by LTU and you'll fly their equipment but with completely modified interiour. They've also introduced a great lie-flat business class seat which they sell for less than legacy carriers charge...
