Any experience with Norwegian Air and Air Berlin?

I am considering booking flights to Europe and home via Air Berlin and Norwegian air. The prices are good and the times are also good both departure/arrival and time in the air/layovers. I would appreciate any advice, pro or con about these airlines. Thank you, Hank,Novato, Ca

Flew Norwegian down to Guadeloupe and back--new plane, nice crew, not a lot of padding on the seats as in all the new planes and bring your own food if you don't want to buy their sandwiches and salads.

We've flown Norwegian Air Shuttle to and from Europe twice out of Orlando, and the prices were incredibly low. We recently flew them from Budapest to Boston for $238 each one way. Not only do they fly internationally, however they're also the third largest budget airline for European domestic flights.
They're flying to Las Vegas, LAX and Oakland.

Norwegian's new Boeing 787's are incredible airplanes. Just understand their luggage policies before you buy the ticket. We have no problem picnicing, as it saved $45 each one way.

I flew Air Berlin from JFK to Berlin and back last year. It was fine. Totally typical coach, okay food. Got me where I needed to go in good time for a good price.

I have flown Norwegian on 4 different occasions and had no problems at all. I paid extra to pick a seat and for meal service. Very new planes, good service and everything was on time. Staff was efficient . Have already booked another flight with them for December.

Have flown Norwegian the past 3 years from Oakland to Europe, including all the way to Palermo for RS Sicily tour. Planes are just fine with a 3-3-3 configuration. All seats have an entertainment center in front of them with numerous movies, TV shows and documentaries to choose from. Can also order snacks and drinks from the screen with a credit card and they are delivered to your seat. Meals are no worse, no better than other carries flying from US to Europe. Just be aware of the baggage policy (I only do carryon, their limit is 10KG which is about 22 lbs), no food or drink is free, and you have to pay to choose a seat. Bring on your own food and snacks, get drinks at the airport, and enjoy the restful flight to Europe. And now they will be flying direct from Oakland to Rome in the Spring (currently listed at $229 per person). I flew in April roundtrip to Rome for $605, but with connections both ways.

I flew Norwegian Air in the Fall and was very satisfied, so I booked them again for this current trip. I fly home on Saturday.
Be sure that you laave plenty of connection time between your 2 flights since they are on different airlines. On this trip over, Norwegian changed the flight time by 25 minutes which meant I wouldn't make my connection to BA. I had to change the Norwegian flight to the previous day and pay the change fee and for an overnight near Gatwick. (I had violated my own rule about allowing 2 3/4 hours minimum between flights.)
And I will still fly them again ... just read ALL the fine print and give yourself plenty of time.

Norwegian has plans to serve more North American airports, sometimes in secondary locations, and sometimes using the new longer-distance (and still narrow-body) model of the venerable 737. But I can't give you a time frame.

Thank you, one and all for your feedback. I booked my return flight from Dubrovnk with Norwegian. One caution, My credit card kept getting rejected on this booking at the travel agent's They texted my wife's cell phone, as I do not have one. She did not ok the bank's request as we were not together I tried another card, the same response. Most likely it's because the Airline was a foreign airline and the trip was from another country. So, if you are doing the same thing, check with your credit card carrier before booking. It will make it a 30 minute procedure rather than a plus 4 hour one. Hank, Novato, CA
