Another train question...sorry

I have been accumulating tips on how to use the Trenitalia website, with all it's flaws! I have a few questions:

  1. I know that you don't have to "register" to purchase tickets, but do you have to create an account? Or is that the same thing?
  2. I would like to have the tickets emailed to me with the PNR, but don't know if that is an option or not?
  3. What exactly happens when you choose the ticketless option? Do they just send you an email with you PNR # and then you show that to the conductor. I read you could print out a ticket at the train station, but i really would like to avoid having to mess around with the ticket stations.

I'm actually a bit nervous using this website. I did read to not put in any emails that end in .net

Any other tips you can give me would be appreciated.

Your questions should be answered before you enter credit card info, but do click on links that may have more info and read the fine print. Registering and creating an account are the same thing. Ticketless will be an email with a PNR, as described at http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en/Purchase/The-Trenitalia-electronic-ticket.

Pick-up-at station rules will be specified before you complete purchase; for instance, international tickets usually must be picked up at an Italian train station; however that type is small enough that some people have overlooked it.

Well there's nothing to be "nervous" about when using Trenitalia. Either you get a ticket or you don't. Yes, do register/create an account. When you make your purchase it's supposed to be emailed to you to print at home. If something fails during that process and you don't get an email - all you have to do is log into your Trenitalia account and reprint. All of your purchases are stored under your account. If you have no account and the email doesn't get sent to you...well, then you may have a headache to deal with.

Just create an account. It's not difficult.

Thank you. I read somewhere that you had to have an Italian address to register. I've read this several times, but it seems maybe this might not be true? Sounds like the ticketless is the way to go.

Just put in the address of your hotel...it doesn't matter.

What do you mean by that? That is not making any sense. I am not sure what flaws you are seeing at trenitalia but I find it fairly easy to use after a little practice. When you purchase it will be email to you.

I have a Trenitalia account and I don't have an Italian address.

Just remember when creating the account that the questions will switch over to Italian, and when you want to put in the name of your country that has to be in Italian too.

The most important part of the registration is to get your email exactly correct.

I don't know what you are saying about a dot net.
