Considering staying in Angouleme and taking morning TGV to Paris airport.
Anything interesting to do in Angouleme? Is it a nice town to visit for the day and how about hotels near the train station?

we drove through Angouleme, spent about half a day wandering through the old town and along the river. (there is a cathedral but we didnt visit).The surrounding countryside looked inviting- plan to go back some day and spend more time. La Rochelle on the ocean nearby is worth visiting for half a day

Angouleme has <a href="http://en.bdangouleme.com/">one of the world's most famous comics festivals</a> on the last weekend of January, so unless you're a fan it's best avoided then.
