One part of our Spain vacation includes Andalucia, specifically Sevilla, Ronda, & Granada. We will be taking the AVE all the way from Barcelona to Sevilla. We then hope to proceed east to west - Sevilla, Ronda, Granada. (Then train back to Madrid.) Do you recommend trains or buses? Is one easier than the other? We would welcome some sage advice. Thanks.
For Sevilla-Ronda, your only option is bus. Ronda-Granada can be done by train. There are three trains/day, takes about 2:40, and costs about 14 Euro......Also, please remember there are only two trains/day from Granada to Madrid, taking about 4.5 hours and costing 67 Euro. However, there are about a dozen bus runs/day, taking about 5:15, and costing 16 (yes, 16) Euro.
The bus is very convenient and cheap for the shorter trips of Ronda, Grenada and Sevilla. I'd take the train to/from Madrid just because it's a long trip and a train is far more comfy/relaxing than a bus.
the leg from barcelona to sevilla is long. almost 1000 kilometers. i recently took the night train from barcelona to granada. you might consider it. there are few opportunities on the train unless you go to madrid from barcelona on the ave, then ave from madrid to sevilla. have fun, be safe.
