An affordable way to get from Copenhagen to Bergen

A friend and I are travelling to Europe for the first time this summer. We're trying to prioritize for the three weeks we will be there and the Fjords sound incredible. What's the cheapest way to get from Copenhagen to Bergen? I don't know if we can commit to hundreds of dollars for a rail pass.

You could also try SAS;

I found some $80 flights.

You might also consider expanding your fjord horizons a bit and fly to Ålesund instead ($118 on SAS) and see that interesting port city, then bus down to the Geirangerfjord area (very nice fjord experience) and then continue to bus south toward Bergen, perhaps stopping in Balestrand and then doing the fjord cruise to Gudvangen, then on to Bergen. From there you can fly to several other destinations in Europe.

The reason I bring this up is because, while Bergen is worth a visit, the closest fjord is many miles away and not the best, IMO. The Geirangerfjord near the town of Geiranger is more dramatic. Also, the busses from Ålesund, south toward Bergen, while slow and tedious, offer amazing scenery.

The whole thing could be done in about 4 days, if you have that much time to spend, though of course more time would be better.

Thanks for the responses. Norway is quickly becoming a priority and both these options sound like a good idea.

Cheers!
