Amtrak Spam

Reporting it as fast as I can.

To those who keep responding to the spam by writing anything in response, even telling people you reported it, is helping the spammers.

These are done by computers. When you post, the computer gets a message that someone responded.......and then it sends more spam.

Just report it and ignore it.

Busy computer. Too bad its master can’t work that hard at a real job.
Side note: Amtrak doesn’t go thru Phoenix so even if the span wasn’t trash it would still be worthless.

Does just touching the post, to open it up, give positive feedback to the spammer? I’d think the spammer would somehow value having gullible prospective customers call their toll-free number, or log into their Website, not carry on a conversation on a forum on a Website to which they’ve posted. Does their computer have a worm that’s tracking any reply in Rick’s forum, not a direct PM to their made-up poster identity?

If they and their computer were really savvy, they’d realize that their postings were just generating a derisive or neutral response, and not eager customers. Must not take too much of the spammer’s time, money, or energy, but the annoying posts sure consume a lot of this forum members’ focus. The spammers are pests, no doubt about it. It a shame they can be more productive, or better at targeting their services to a better suited audience.

So the Delta airlines spam that came an hour and thirteen minutes after this post from Frank II, has no replies, I see. I’ve reported it, without making any comment on the thread. I imagine many of you have done likewise. It hasn’t been removed yet, though, nor replaced by Rick lying on the floor saying it’s his fault. Maybe it will go away, without the spammer getting any encouraging replies.

Does anyone ever give business to any of these spammers? They just seem to be online graffiti, littering this forum for no good purpose.

Cyn, this spam is computer generated. When you first sign up for this forum, you have the option of getting an email every time someone responds to a thread you created.

When someone responds, it doesn't care what the response says. It just knows that someone is responding and they may have gullible customers. So it sends more. And then it changes topic (in this case from Amtrack to Delta.) It then keeps track of which topics get the most hits and will send more spam with something similar to the topic.

The best thing to do is to report it and ignore it.

After today's onslaught, I would not be surprised if a rep from the garbage haulers union did not show up to enroll the webmaster and collect the union dues.

Definitely a truck load of ( ____ ) today

Good work Mr/Ms Moderator

OK, Frank II, don’t feed the troll, or even acknowledge it. Report it, and let the Webmaster deal with it - got it. I still have to wonder whether anyone has ever called the number, or clicked on the Website address these clowns are promoting?
