I will be in Amsterdam on New Years day. Does anyone know if the tram runs on holidays?

Though not familiar with Amsterdam, I am pretty sure that the public transportation system does not shut down on any day. There will be far few buses, trams, trains, etc. but they don't stop running. Just give yourself more time to get places, especially if you have connections.

The trams will be running. The only day trams shut down in Amsterdam is on Queens Day in April.
