We are arriving in AMS late afternoon on Friday 9/7/12 and need to get to Rotterdam for a Holland America cruise the next day. What is the best means of travel without busting the budget; should we stay in Amsterdam and travel on 9/8 or go on to Rotterdam directly from AMS airport ? If we go directly to Rotterdam, where should we stay? We're both over 80.

There are direct trains from the airport train station to Rotterdam every 15 minutes or so, travel time is about an hour. Across the street from the train station in Rotterdam, are a Hilton and a Holiday Inn.

Forget the normal trains. High-speed trains (Fyra), which cost € 2,70 MORE than the regular ones. They take only 26 min between Schiphol airport and Rotterdam, and are much better than the regular trains (no intermediate stop, more room, safeR).

Thank you for the info. Do we catch the train and buy the tickets in the same area, and does it stop opposite the Manhattan Hotel in Rotterdam as the other one does?
