Amsterdam to Portmeirion in one day

Thought we had it nailed down with a flight with BMI Baby from AMS into Birmingham, but most reviews said not to trust their flights.

We want to leave AMS early on Sept. 3rd and arrive in Portmeirion later the same day. Flights into London get us to the UK by around 7 am, but it gets dodgy trying to get to Euston Station for a 9:40 am train departure due possible customs delays and negotiating airport and ground transport.

We could leave AMS on the 2nd and stay overnight near Euston station, but would prefer max. AMS time and easy access to Schiphol the morning of the 3rd.

Portmeirion is locked in for the evening of Sept. 3rd so our only real flexibility would be moving up the flight and adding another hotel booking.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks,

Tony

How about flying Amsterdam to London City Airport, is on the east side of the city? BA, KLM and Air France appear to fly there from Amsterdam. The airport is used by businesspeople so has flights arriving in time for the business day. Have not used the airport myself but those who have say it is efficient.

The Transport for London journey planner suggests under an hour's journey time from the airport to Paddington station.

Edit Sorry, you are going to Euston but expect it would be about the same.

Good luck

I'll second Linda's recommendation for trying to get a flight to London City. It is a very small airport that only does short-haul flights. You can get through passport control quite quickly. I've used it quite a few times. It is my first choice of airports in London. In fact, I'm flying into LCY later this month.

Tony how about a BMIbaby flight into Manchester Airport at 940 am that day? That will put you closer to Wales and there is a train station at manchester airport

There is also an easy jet flight getting into Liverpool at 930 am that day. Which again has you right on the Wales border.
