We will be arriving by plane in Amsterdam on Saturday Aug 15. We were planning on taking a train to Hannover. Apparently the new DB Bahn schedule doesn't show any trains with O changes on either Sat. or Sun. We are two seniors and were planning on seeing Ams before our return to PDX. Any suggestions?

Most of the runs that I see on weekends have zero train changes and are offering special fares. When I look at August, it's very different. No direct runs and higher fares. Perhaps, Bahn will be updating their schedules. I'm betting that as you get closer, you will see in August what you now see in June and July.

When I look at the schedule for 22 Aug, I don't see any direct (no change) connection between Amsterdam Centraal and Hannover. I do see direct connections from Amsterdam Zuid to Hannover. One of these direct trains is IC 143. If I bring up the route for that IC 143, at the bottom of the route page it says, "not every day, 3. Jun until 6. Sep 2009; not 20. Jun until 3. Jul 2009, 8., 9. Aug, 14. until 16. Aug 2009".
So apparently the direct train from Amsterdam Zuid to Hannover does not run on Sat. Aug. 15.

I found the same situation for Aug 1, i.e., no direct trains from Amsterdam Centraal, direct trains every two hours from Amsterdam Zuid (south). The 8:58 train both days (1 and 22 Aug) is IC 143, mentioned above. The 10:58 train is IC 245; it also says it doesn't run 8 and 15 Aug.
