Amsterdam to Glasgow

My elderly parents need to travel from Amsterdam to Glasgow on May 11 one way. Flights they were quoted came to $700 which seems high to me. Anyone know of a cheaper way to go? Train or flying or time travel? I tried whichbudget.com but no one has a non stop or a short layover.Thanks. Cheryl

Easyjet flies from Amsterdam to Edinburgh....then take the train from there, although I don't believe their schedules for next spring are out yet.

One problem is that one-way tickets are VERY expensive. If you try flybe.com, you should be able to find round-trip tickets for about $235 RT per person on May 11th, Amsterdam-Glasgow....use the first half and throw the second away.

Explore ferries that depart from Amsterdam and go to the UK. I've got friends from Holland that take vacations regularly take vacations in Scotland. They either do a ferry to somewhere like Hull and then catch a train, or they have caught a flight to Edinburgh and then taken the train from Edinburgh to their next destination. Pam

Easyjet has a oneway on May 11 at 2:30pm for 29.99GBP. Glasgow to Edinburgh is not difficult by bus or train, depending where in Glasgow they are leaving from.

There is also a ferry from Rosyth (near Edinburgh) to Zeebruge, don't know the cost and if your parents are not too mobile it may be too much of a hassle as there will be trains at both ends.

If your parents fly easyJet from Amsterdam to Edinburgh, they can easily get to Glasgow from there by train. Trains run at least twice an hour and the ride takes just under one hour. The current fare is less than £12.
