We hope to be flying from Amsterdam to Budapest next September. I've looked in my usual places (Kayak, Google Flights, etc.) and can't find any discount flights, just KLM about $180. Am I missing something or is this the only flight?
$180 is pretty cheap for a flight nearly a year from now halfway across Europe on a good airline. Book it.
For non stop flights, KLM is the only choice.
KLM are indeed the only carrier on that particular city pair.
Tickets start at about $180. Checking a bag? Want an advance seat assignment? Figure closer to $300 (on the same dates and flight as the $180 ticket)
This is one of those decisions where if you have time maybe you will revise the trip a bit. Brussels to Budapest starts at about $40 (Wizz and Ryan). Okay, let’s say $90 with a checked bag and a seat (i checked). With the $200 you save it could pay for the 2 hour train journey to Brussels. and a little sightseeing.
I bet people on the forum could come up with all sorts of ideas with more information.
. Am I missing something or is this the only flight?
No that is consistently the going rate for non stop flights on KLM.
For discount flights, try Skyscanner and/or some of the individual budget airlines. According to Skyscanner, Ryanair has a fight in Sept. 2026 for as low as 50GBP which is about $65 USD.
Ryanair is not selling direct flights from Amsterdam to Budapest.
I am sorry to have unknowingly posted erroneous information I found on Skyscanner and I am glad jazz-travels pointed out the error. I have now read more on the foibles of Skyscanner.
CD in DC we all mess up from time to time.
