This is my first trip to Europe, and I will be staying mostly in Amsterdam. I would like to travel to Bruges and am having a hard time figuring out the best (cheapest, most efficient) way to go. I would like to go for just a day, and this may be my only travel outside of Amsterdam. What is my best option? I really appreciate any help!! Thanks!
Easiest and cheapest is to take the train from Amsterdam Centraal Station.
Take IC trains. Leave as early as 05:56, change in Antwerp and Gent, and be in Brugge at 09:30.
Leave Brugge as late as 20:20, change in Antwerp, and be back in Amsterdam at 00:06.
See the timetables at www.bahn.de. After you get summary timetables, click on "Details for all" to see the connecting points.
Thank you very much!!!
Lee-The cheapest I found for Amsterdam to Bruges was 42 euro one way when I looked a few weeks ago. Is that about right? It seemed a bit expensive compared to some of the other deals that I was able to find when I was looking in other countries (Prem, Bayern, etc). Any suggestions? Also, which website is the best to buy this ticket as I had looked at both country's websites. Also, how far out can you book that leg? Thanks!

Jed,
The fare indeed is 42.20€. There is no need to book ahead. The fare won't change and reservations aren't possible. Just buy your ticket at the station.
Thanks Tim! Just thought compared to some of the other deals available with advance booking there might be something for this route. A bit spendy compared to some!
Definitely take the train from Amsterdam Centraal. The rise is reasonable and not that long and you will still have most of the day in Bruges whichis fabulous. Enjoy!
