Amsterdam to Bruge by train

I am heading over to Amsterdam and planning on going down to Bruge for a few days. Any recommendations on the best train route? Connecting through Antwerp seems the fastest.
Should I pre-buy the train tickets before going to Europe? Any cost svaings? Any concern of being sold out, or is it safe to wait until the day(s) of travel?

You can purchase tickets and print them out at home at www.nshispeed.nl. They are general tickets that can be used for any IC train, but there is no discount. There is no way to reserve seats in advance, they're first come first serve, but you won't have any problems finding a seat or purchasing tickets at the station shortly before your departure.

You can't get a discount to pre-buy tickets for the Amsterdam-Bruges trip via Antwerp(about 3:45), so no discount there. There is at least one train/hour that makes that run, so you won't have any problems. If you want to get out on a specific train, simply purchase the ticket when you arrive in A'dam.

I just did that route in December. When we landed in Amsterdam we bought our tickets to Bruges at the airport before we trained into town. We went through Antwerp.

There isn't a discount to Brugge; however, you can buy advanced discounted tickets to Antwerp and then a regular ticket from Antwerp to Brugge and save money. Making the fare 32.60 instead of 44 one way. You also didn't indicate if you were looking for return tickets and when you were planning on traveling, but there are Benelux weekend tickets that are discounted return tickets. From Amsterdam to Brugge they are around 54euros.
