I'm not finding what I need, so I trust that the frequent travelers here can help. I'm flying from Portland to Amsterdam on Delta, have a 1 hr 55 min layover, and then transfer to a KLM flight to Barcelona. The question - will I go through passport control after my US flight but before I stop at the transfer desk to get boarding pass to Barcelona? I'm a little worried about connection times but I will only have carry on luggage. Also, if anyone can point to the part of the Schiphol website that says which airlines work out of which pier that would be really grand. Thank you!
Do you have one ticket or two separate tickets? That is a big difference.
Good question - I purchased my tickets from Delta, the flight to Barcelona is a "Delta" flight operated by KLM. I'm assuming they'll check me through from Portland, but that might be wrong assumption.
In addition, you will have to pass through an immigration check before you reach your gate to Barcelona. It's impossible to know this far in advance with "pier" your gate will be in, but Schiphol is housed under one giant building so a two hour (or even one hour) connection time usually isn't a problem.
As Michael has stated, you'll get off the plane, go through passport control, and then you can go to your gate. You can expect to go through security again. And since you're not checking your bag, that's one less thing to worry about.
Thanks everyone - I knew you'd know!
