Amsterdam/Germany/Switzerland train questions

Hi everyone,

Y'all have been great about helping in the past, so hopefully someone might have advice we can use once again.

Between four and six of us (on different legs) are traveling together, and we're looking to find the best way (company, etc) and best prices to travel by train to the following:

June 23rd: Amsterdam>Cologne
June 30th: Munich>Interlaken (Murren)...guessing this will be D-Bahn
July 3rd: Interlaken (Murren)>Paris

Any recommendations about when we should book the three international trips?

I figure many of you may do this fairly frequently, so any help is appreciated...

Danke & Merci in advance!
Danny

Edited: figured out the D-Bahn info...
ETA2: not "intercontinental"

I assume you mean "international" rather than "intercontinental" :-)

For Amsterdam-Cologne and Munich-Interlaken, the Deutsche Bahn website is almost always the best for booking trains into or out of Germany. The usual booking time is three months in advance but someone else on this site has reported seeing discount fares being put on sale earlier.

For Interlaken-Paris I would recommend trying www.loco2.com and www.capitainetrain.com, which are reliable resellers and more friendly to US users than the official SNCF site. It's also worth trying the official Swiss site at www.sbb.ch.

One thing that may cause issues is that the European rail schedules usually change in mid-June, and as a result tickets for journeys in June or July may not come on sale until later than the usual ninety-day limit.

Haha, yes Philip...not "intercontinental"...guess I wasn't thinking straight late at night...

Thanks for the advice...I'll keep an eye out for the schedules and will try those links as well.

Thanks again,
Danny
