American to Iceland

American Airlines will start seasonal service from DFW to Iceland starting in May. They are going to compete with Icelandair and WOW who start flying that route about the same time.

That's good news. American isn't fabulous, but it's better than WOW.

Our opinion is to avoid WOW airlines completely until they improve customer relations. We paid for 4 bags ahead of time, but when we got to the airport to drop bags they made us pay again. I had the receipt on my phone and showed him. He was unbelievably rude and wouldn't take the receipt as evidence we had paid. It was terrible especially because we had waited in line for well over an hour and were worried about missing the flight (hadn't gone through security yet). We only gave in and paid all over again--at the higher airport bag prices-- because we would have missed our flight. We've complained to the right department, of course, including all the evidence, but 3 months later have not heard a thing.

We also passed a young woman in tears at the gate because they hadn't put the right tag on her handbag and wouldn't let her on board.

We then had an hour wait while on board the plane and talked to all the people around us. Every single one had a bad Wow story to tell.

Yikes, I'm sorry to hear about your trials with Wow Air.
I'm flying Icelandair in a couple of weeks to Reykjavik, so I'm hoping it will be ok; though they don't get great reviews.
(Cheap flight was the incentive for me.)

Another reason to make paper copies of boarding passes, train tickets, hotel reservations etc. at home "just in case." But I guess I'm a belt-and-suspenders person.

Zoomcd, I hope you've contested one set of charges with your credit card company.
