Amalfi and ?

Hello Fellow Travelers, My husband and I would really like to visit the Amalfi coast. Based on our research, travel style and discussions with friends we'd like to spend 5 days exploring Amalfi, Sorrento, Capri and Positano. We have total 10 days travel and not sure what to combine with...we did northern Italy on our Honeymoon with the exception of Milan and Como...the other options are Mykonos and Santorini or Hvar and Dubrovnik, but not sure how to get around between them...what other itineraries can you suggest? Thanks!

With only 10 days, I'd spend it all in this lovely part of Italy. Your ferry crossing to Capri will take between 30 and 90 minutes depending on where you leave from and what kind of ferry you take. Whether you take the bus or private car or taxi, it will take you similar times between the coastal towns due to the traffic. Except for side trips to either Pompeii for that amazing experience or Paestum for Greek ruins, this is ease out country. You will not have time to do it or your other possible destinations justice if you rush any of them. Here's one bit of what Rick Steves has to say about the area.

You will need at least 5 days to explore this beautiful part of Italy. Make sure you give at least 4-5 hours of your time to visit Ravello. A must see!!

Where are you flying into? Rome. If so spend a couple nights there perhaps. We spent 5 nights in Sorrento in April. We could have spent a couple more nights and not have been bored. Here's what our 6 days looked like: Day 1: arrived/explored the town, did a load of laundry Day 2: Wandered around/ left for Pompei around 12:30 or 1:00, back in Sorrento around 5 Day 3: Hired driver to see Almalfi coast 8am, stopped in Positano, Amalfi, and Paestum, back to hotel by 7pm Day 4: Capri - 10:30 ferry, back by 4:30 or 5:00
Day 5: Rained so we just hung out hotel then wandered around Sorrento with RS walking tour for the afternoon Day 6: Car service to Naples airport If we had 2-3 more nights, I would have taken the train from Rome to Paestum in the afternoon, spent the night, visited the ruins in the morning, then Positano and spend two nights (visit Ravello), then on to Sorrento for 5-6 nights.
