There are persistent rumors that KLM/Air France are buying Alitalia. So by June the situation may be better. Since you have already bought the tickets there isn't much you can do except keep your finger crossed. Alitalia is a member of the SkyTeam alliance so it's possible that if the carrier went under the partner airlines might honor tickets.

Alitalia has been having a financial situation for all of this century.

If ( a big IF ) they go broke you have rights that will be honoured. As Alitalia is an IATA airline any other IATA airline can then pick up the tickets. So under those circumstances you could take the ticket to another well known airline and get on a flight if they have a seat.

Usually this is done through the IATA administrators. They contact you and either reimburse your money or offer an alternative flight and date.

P.S. Traditionally European airlines go broke in the month of September. The last two were SwissAir and Sabena. As both were IATA no passengers were left stranded.
