Alitalia/Delta Talks

Read a brief article on Bloomberg.com (link here) stating some Italian execs will be Atlanta-bound to discuss potential ownership bid.

In brief, article states Alitalia might end up with multiple current airlines taking an ownership stake (Delta, Lufthansa, EasyJet), focusing on either short- or long-haul flights. Also states Italian execs prefer Delta over Lufthansa because Lufthansa wants to cut jobs--which is nice in theory, but I thought one of the problems with Alitalia's solvency is their labor costs.

I don't think anyone can infer much from their behind-the-scenes business decisions/ talks/ etc. which are bound to go on and on, and have been for years now. I think all the chatter is making people believe that they will shutter soon (I just liken it to a bunch of drama and pretty much ignore it). Here is the operational news coming from my area - new direct flights to Rome coming in May 2019. Bloomberg, in a brief synopsis of an article in Corriere della Sera (Bloomberg link here, Corriere della Sera here) reports that Delta is now proposing a partnership with Easyjet in it's bid for Alitalia. Some sort of decision might be announced at a board meeting this Wednesday. Or, of course, nothing may be announced.
