Alitalia Baggage Help

I need to take 2 suitcases with pet shampoos on a Alitalia flight (will check in as baggage). (From Miami Airport) Does anyone have any experience with this? Any comments on any possible customs issues? According to Alitalia 800# it SHOULD be o.k. but looking for feedback from personal experiences.

The shampoos are for trade show. Any other suggestions on shipping will also be appreciated, but shipping these two boxes of 35 lbs. each to Italy is so expensive. Really want to take them on the airplane. Thanks to all :-)

Alitalia has been the subject of many recent discussions here......and none very positive.

Alitalia seems to be very good at losing luggage, so, you have to ask yourself, how bad would it be if they lost my luggage?

Perhaps ship one box and take the other as luggage?

You should also check with Italian customs on whether or not you need any special paperwork to bring the pet shampoo into Italy. At least that large an amount. Any Italian conosulate in the U.S. should be able to help.
