Well Steve, I'm glad that at least you and I found this topic interesting ;>)
I'm going to wait and see what the exact terms of the deal are. For the most part, you don't get full mileage on your Alaska plan when you fly some of its 'partner' overseas airlines, and they don't qualify for MVP status either. Given that Icelandair's own frequent flyer program is pretty lame, I'll wait to get excited.
Still, they do have really low fares, often, even if you do have to pay for drinks and food.
I'm interested! We have lots of Alaska miles and I'm always looking at options for getting to Europe with them.
But it looks like their airport options are limited, outside of Scandinavia and the UK---only Paris and Frankfurt.
How is their service? What type of plane to they use? How about "Saga" class?
