Aix en Provence to Montreux

We are on the eastern France tour mid June and when the tour ends in Aix en Provence we are going to Montreux SZ for some down time before departing back to US. Any suggestions on travel via train?

Looks like you can book tickets as far as Geneva on the SNCF site. You would have connections in Marseille and Lyon. From Geneva to Montreux you'd have to book on the Swiss rail site ( there appear to be very frequent trains on that
ride)

or if the weather is good, you could take a nice boat ride from Geneva to Montreaux...

I would book this on SBB, as they can book the whole trip. SNCF currently refuses to book trains that do not originate in France, but SBB has links to the French booking system, so can get you the whole trip.

I also would suggest you look at trains from Aix-en-Provence TGV. That way you would have a one seat fast ride till Lyon, then local train to Geneva, and then Swiss train to Montreux.

Note that SZ is the abbreviation of the canton of Schwyz. Montreux is in the canton of Vaud, so it is Montreux VD :-)

thanks for the options - would love to do the boat ride, but may save for one of the non travel days.
