Airports in Germany?

We are booking a flight to Prague in 6 weeks. Should Frankfurt be avoided? It looks like the strikes have been off and on for a few months.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Definitely avoid FRA.

I prefer transferring at Zurich, which is the most efficient airport in Europe.

I went through Frankfurt last year and didn’t have a problem, although, I seem to recall a long walk to the gate, and then it got changed. I had a not so good experience going through Munich, though, with horribly long line ups for security, no staff helping people, and almost missing my connection because of it.

We flew from Israel to Dulles connecting in Frankfurt 3 weeks ago. The waiting area was chaos--more United Airline's fault than a problem with the airline. We missed our connecting flight in D.C., and all the flights were 100% full the next 2 days.

Travel through Europe is going to be very busy in 2023. So many people are returning to travel after 2 years of being cooped up at home.

@Barbara:

The Points Guy seems to be doing their best with their updates. Don't be put off by the "March 31" original post date; scroll down for more timely updates.

I'll soon be heading out across the big eastern pond again, and because I've a soft spot for FRA, I don't mind flying into Frankfurt, because I find the airport fairly easy to navigate. As for strike updates, I've been using Google search for "Warnstreik" to check News results from various transport websites and state broadcasters in Germany.

Thanks all. This is helpful.

We are going through Amsterdam for our outbound flight (and made sure we had enough layover to make the connecting flight, just in case).

We still need to book our flight home, though since we're flying out of another city.

I had a good experience flying in and out of Berlin. The airport is pretty new and very spacious - I found it to be one of my better airport experiences.
