Can anyone recommend a reliable, cost efficient car service from VIE to the Vienna Marriott hotel? We will be arriving after an overnight flight from New York and will have baggage, so I am hesitant to take the CAT train. Shared transportation might also be an option. Unfortunately, we speak no German. Thanks for your help!
When I arrived from my from New York after traveling overnight, I avoided the CAT train too as I learned from this forum and others that the CAT was a rip off. My luggage and I took the S7 commuter rail which is right at the airport to Wien Mitte and transferred to the U-Bahn to our hotel located a few blocks from St Stephen’s Cathedral. This was quick & easy.
So I can’t help you with car service but I can offer a quick way to Vienna without the CAT.
After my overseas flights, I am tired, and don't want to start looking for train platforms, only to have the necessity of taking more public transportation once I arrive in the city, so I just take a taxi from the airport. It cost us about 45 euros to go from VIE into Vienna. I always write down my hotel and address in large print on my hotel confirmation page, and show that to the taxi driver. Many understand basic english.
We used a car service but it was arranged by our hotel. You might see if the Marriott can arrange this for you.
