Apparently the British news sources are all over this, other wise it is pretty much flying under the radar: http://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/simon-calder-spanish-airport-strikes-qampa-2236591.html 20+ strike days planned, starting in April around Easter, and continuing into summer. Very worrisome for those of us going to Spain in late April.
noooo! the day before we are to fly out is a strike day! oh oh..... Lola, thanks so much for posting! Things will get interesting! You are so correct...I have NOT seen any mention of this elsewhere!
Does anyone know what we can expect if we are flying in or out of Spain on or near the strike days?
We have tickets to Barcelona in April, the day after a strike day. AND we are flying British Airways. The cabin crew strike threat is kicking up again---they are voting during March whether tor not to strike in April (maybe around the dates of the royal wedding for maximum impact). So we're loooking at a double whammy. But there is nothing to do yet but watch and wait. And in truth, until someone moved this up today, I had stopped paying attention, my thoughts have been diverted to the disaster in Japan. Makes a potential disruption in travel plans seem trivial.
Good news-according to spanish news sources, the government and the union have reached a preliminary agreement that should waard off the strikes. The workers will vote in the next few days, and hopefully will ratify the agreement.
